I would just like to introduce myself and get acquainted with our Randolph Co. researchers. I am Nola Duffy and am currently acting as CC for the Randolph Co. GenWeb page. I will be actively looking for someone who either lives in Randolph Co. or someone with strong county connections to take the page eventually but in the meantime, I do hope to make a positive contribution and continue Trent's efforts. I can't hope to do what Trent Briles has done during his tenure but I will be actively working to provide new data for all. My home was Alamance Co. but my deceased husband and only child were born in Randolph Co. and I am sure the Moffitt name is familiar to many of you. I lived there for a couple of years many years ago and worked in the local hospitals, including the old Griffin Clinic. I have often wondered what may have happened to it and if it is even standing. I currently do not have any Randolph Co. materials to do look ups but I do have access to the census records and a great number of marriage records. Since I have just started, I have not had an opportunity to check our local genealogy library to see what might be available but will do so shortly and then let everyone know what I might have access to. In the meantime, if anyone has copies of documents related to their own family or know of anyone with cemetery data, I would like to urge you to send along so I can post it for the benefit of all. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions to improve the current website, let me know. Trent has done such a great job that it will take a little time for me to even figure out the organization and format. He was a whiz and I am not. Nola

Solomon BLAIR (1785-1853) married Nancy CLARK in 1811. I don't know how Nancy might be related to Samuel Clark, but I'd say that probably this really is Solomon Blair. Solomon was the son of Enos Blair and Hannah Millikan. Solomon and Nancy moved to Indiana some time in the 1820s. Their last child was born there in 1829. -- Elizabeth Harris ncgen@mindspring.com Personal genealogy webpage: http://www.duke.edu/web/chlamy Winston-Salem NC area genealogy: http://www.fmoran.com/ HOLDER DNA project: http://www.mindspring.com/~holderdna/
I have the published 1820 Tax List and realized that there may be some transcription errors on this list. I would like access to a photocopy of the original copy of this list, maybe via a microfilm. Does anyone know IF this exists? And, does anyone have the microfilm and willing to do a quick lookup? I have a Solomon BLAR with 100 acres worth $300 and 1 white poll, on page 8 next to Samuel CLARK. I know they may not have been next door to each other since this list was sorted roughly by Captain Smith in his district, but they were close to each other in reality. I know there were BLAIRs in the county but what I am asking is if this entry is correctly transcribed. Could it possibly have been Solomon WALL? Thanks. Tim
Did Betty Camin (or anyone) transcribe the bastardy bonds for Randolph Co. around 1823 or so? I wonder if there are any Julians shown. Also spelled Julen, Julien, Jolen, etc. Betty Pace

Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery is off of Worthville Road in Franklinville (near Randleman). Depending on the direction you are going, you will take either a right or left off of Worthville Road (turn at the stoplight at 220 Business near Food Lion). Look for George York Road because Bethany Church Road is opposite of it. You will easily find the church on the right. Gray's Chapel Church Cemtery is on the corner of Highway 22 and Old Liberty Road in the Gray's Chapel township. Depending on what direction you are going, the church will be easy to find as well. It may be easier to use google maps for this location because both Highway 22 and Old Liberty Road run into many other routes to get you in this direction. New Salem Church Cemetery is located on the corner of New Salem Road and Old Greensboro Road in Randleman. New Salem Road connects to Highway 220 Business if you are in that area. Look for the church on your right after you pass through the country quite a few miles. If you are coming from 220 Business (or Main St. Randleman), you can turn on either New Salem Road, or Old Greensboro Road. If you take New Salem Road, you will see the church on your left after a few miles. If you take Old Greensboro Road, you will run into the church at the end of the road. I have actually taken pictures of all of the headstones in this cemetery. You can view them at http://coopedgirlcem.spaces.live.com/ if you are interested. They are sorted by Surname. I have also taken quite a few pictures of headstones in the Gray's Chapel cemetery. It is a large cemetery, so not all headstones are showing. There are many ways to get to these churches, so it may be easier to use google maps. Please let me know if you need help with it, and I will be glad to help. I have an old Randolph Co land grant , I would like someone to explain The actual land grant seems entered Dec 1813 and the order to the surveyor is dated Oct 1814 . this order calls for land 101acres to be laid on on the waters of Mills stone Creek It further calls for the land to adjoin Anthony Rains on the west . It looks like the actual survey was then done and it is still on the waters of millstone creek it begins at a Point oak ? on Moffits corner in Yorks line , runs south forty four chains to a black jack in Wilkensons line then east twenty three chains to white oak by a branch then north fory four chains to a stake in Moffitts line then west on Moffitts line to the beginning . this creates a neat rectangle however . Why does it no actually border Millstone creek ? and why did it not border Anthony Rains on the west ? as originally ordered .any iformation re this grant is greatly appreciated Patricia Perkins
