Many of you knew that I was having bypass surgery but others did not. I am home after a 7.5 hr. procedure to replace 5 arteries and having a better than anticipated recovery so I should be able to catch up shortly. In the meantime I wanted to thank those who have sent new contributions for posting, before and during my hospitalization and let you know how much each is appreciated, even if I have not responded. I will get them all posted shortly and urge you to continue to pass along new data. Although not quite up to par, I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be back doing what I love best. Nola

Just where was the family living during the 1850 census? What kids show up in that census? The David-Amy family I am looking at in the 1850 census, is in the southern division of Davidson Co, NC. Shows David as 55, Amy as 50/51, with Jesse 20 and Ephraim 12. If David Hoover-Amy Vestal is *not* this couple, then I need to scratch them off my list of interesting possibles. I suspect that I may be looking at a different David with a different wife Amy..... Any help with the 1850 census for the *known* David Hoover-Amy Vestal marriage would help tremendously. Even letting me eliminate them would keep me from chasing herrings. Thanks, Linda

Two brohers, my Jonas and Jacob stayed in Randolph Co. Each line has their own H reunion in the summer in Asheboro. Most of my info is on the family that stayed and they are still there. I have three Hoover contacts in case you'd like to contact them. One is in Asheboro, one is in AL and one is in Pittsburgh PA. She descends from the lines that migrated north. I don't have much info on them since they are not mine. As you know Pres. Hoover descended from immigrant Andrew. I have a copy of a wood carving of him, not too clear, but if you turn it in the light you can see what he looked like. There is a H cemetery on Andrew's original land on Jackson Creek Rd about 10 miles west of Asheboro. The mailing address for it is Denton NC. It is a family cemetery and is by the Uwharrie River. I was there a few yrs. ago. Pres. H erected a monument to Andrew, however, it is on the grave of his g/s Andrew. Immigrant Andrew is buried below the forks of the river. He is a DAR patriot. He used to ground grain for the Revolution. My Jonas lived on AH land. An old H homeplace is still standing in Back Creek ca 200 yrs old that is in disrepair, but it is at least there. A lady here in Charlotte owns it. Always glad to share. laverne bunting hayes charlotte nc 28269

I have David & Amy's (Vestal) child, Henry (my line born 1822 in NC) going to Brown County, IL about 1854 range and I believe there were other family members that made the trip. I know Henry and Mary(Polly) Hoover had a son named Jesse in approx. 1854 at/before they moved. Could be they named it after one of Henry's brothers that moved with them to Illinois. Brown County, Illinois has good record keeping, and the town where information may be located is Mt. Sterling. My Hoover relatives migrated from Illinois to the Missouri River area (Yucatan, Portland, etc.). Thom Cameron's line was also this line via marriage, and he lives in the area of NC that the Hoover's migrated from, still. I also live in NC, but in Lincoln County, where yet others from this group moved to while the civil war was going on. GOOD LUCK - let me know if I can get you more information!
