Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kUB.2ACE/2049 Message Board Post: Am looking for information regarding the Lewis Green listed in the 1800 Montgomery county census. Also believe I have in my records that someone said Lewis Green's name was on 1817 election record or tax record of some kind but the person provided no evidence and I can't find a record of this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    3. I would love to find out the final out come of the lawsuit of Polly vs Pete. I believe that my Peter was the son of William Craven (died in a canoe crossing Deep River 1816), and named in this suit. Does anyone know who William's wife was?? I think the suit might have gone to NC Supreme Court.. {Have had to take care of other matters for over 3 years, so hope I'll be able to get active again.} My great great grandfather, Timothy B. Craven (s/o Peter & Mary Craven, from Randolph) married in Cabarrus County in 1852. First record that I have been able to find of him. Had realestate partnership with James B. Furr, whose sister Sarah married William S. Brewer from Chatham co. This is the only two early Chatham/Randolph Co. connections that I have found early in Cabarrus Co. Sold property in Cabarrus Co. to Edward Gardner... Thanks, Betty --- Betty Jean Craven Lipe --- bjlipe@earthlink.net "Make new friends, but keep the old. 2. This is the right Marmaduke WIlliams and I am trying to locate info. on his daughter Laura Ann WIlliams, who married James Madison Cranford. James died in July 1862 and the estate was filed in Oct. 1862 in both Randolph and Montgomery Counties,NC. I never found how or where he died although I feel he was killed in the Civil War. Had found Laura Ann living in the Asheboro,NC area with her son, Joel Griffin Williams but don't know when or where she died and was buried. Richard

    3. Nope; the Nantucket Gardners are a 3rd family group. The other two are the German Garners and the Garner/Gardners originating in VA. Mine are the VA ones. dotsicle

    3. This Marmaduke Williams (1804) is the son of Daniel Williams and Nancy Cole. Daniel's father appears to be William Williams and his mother Mary Margaret Presnell. Daniel had a brother Benjamin whom I believe married Hannah McManus, and several of their kids married Garner/Gardners. I hope I don't have the 2 Williams families mixed up! There is another Marmaduke Williams (1807) who lived over the Chatham Co. line; don't know who his parents were. dotsicle

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kUB.2ACE/693.721.3.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: This is what I can help with. Jeremiah d. 18 July 1800. The adm bond and sale was Aug 1800, settled 1803, widow's share and orphan's share. Benjamin Wms was appointed guardian for Lydia, orphan. I believe Lydia married John Cox and moved to Hocking County, Ohio. In 1795, John Gardner sells 250 acres on Richland Creek and Deep River to Benjamin, then Benjamin deeds to Jeremiah in 1800, then in 1822, John and Lydia Cox of Hocking Co, Ohio, sell 250 acres to Benjamin. So I am guessing that Benjamin gave Lydia the land, maybe that's why she isn't mentioned in the will. Then she sold it back after she went to Ohio? Hope this helps. Can I inquire who your Gardner line is through? I have some of those mixed in, too.

Nancy Garner/Gardner, whom I believe is my 4xgreat grandaunt, took out a bastardy bond naming Jeremiah as her baby's father. Her brothers were bondsmen. I am wondering if Jeremiah died before or after the baby Lydia was born, how he died, and why the Williams family got custody of her rather than the Gardners. And what happened to Lydia?? She is not named in Benjamin's will.
