Surnames: Ellis, Lane, Clark, Sandy Creek Separate Baptist Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.randolph/1158.1193/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Alfred, I tried to email you directly but it bounced. We have just taken part in the Ellis DNA project and have learned that we are definitely descendants of this Ellis family i.e William and Mary (Clark) Ellis who immigrated from Maryland to the Sandy Creek North Carolina area. But we still cannot point to the link between our William of Boone's Creek, TN and that William. There are several tantalizing bits of information that we have been given from others who are from this line but cracking this case is going to take more digging. But now we know that we are on the right track and that you were looking in the right Ellis branch!

    2. I don't have anything on Daniel Goins, but a cousin of mine may have. I will check with him and see. Do you have anything on the Thomas Going, who died in NC in 1797 or 1798, or any of his children? His children were William, Burgess, Burton, Vina, Hali and Elizabeth. I am a direct descendant of Burton. I don't recall the name of it right off, but I visited the cemetery a few years ago. The people who work there have to direct anyone to it, but it is in a mainly untouched wooded area. The people who own the plant farm and landscaping business have managed to protect the old cemetery, but they did tell me it was vandalized some years ago and some gravemarkers torn up. Most of them were still intact and readable that I found. I don't know the connection of Henry Moon, but this plant/landscaping business has been there for years. Actually it is the company that did landscaping for the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Lisa

The property bordered two other farms at that spot and the two other familys of those farms also put their family plots ajoining the Campbells. Henry Moon as I have learned had married I believe Lauglin's granddaughter and ended up with the farm that way. As I said before, my side of the Campbells moved to Ashe Co. here is what I know of my side as far as names quickly Lauglin Campbell John Butler Campbell (servered in the 53rd NCT during the civil war) Henry Garret Campbell Arthur Butler Campbell( my grandfather I will see if I can find my papers in the next couple of days Doug Clarke snowman_312@hotmail.com
