Hi Cookie, I have a York connection into my Butler line in Randolph County, NC. Margaret Butler married Andrew J. York 1855. They had the following children: Jessie, Julie, Mary, John and Margaret. Is there any connection to your York family? Farmer of North Carolina. The last record I can find of him is the 1836 marriage record in Henry Co., GA. I can not find him in the 1820, 1830, & 1840 GA Census. 1850-1880 I have found him in. However, in Gwinnett County, GA there are two James Farmers and one John Farmer in Gwinnett Co., GA in the 1820 Census. It looks as though the older James Farmer may have been the father of the younger James and the John Farmer. There are two young males in the correct age bracket (10-15 yrs. old)living with the older James Farmer, and one of them could have been my Ira E. Farmer. I belive this older James to be the James Farmer, R.S., that drew land in Troup County, GA in the 1827 GA Land Lottery while living in Henry County, GA. Do any of the above Farmer names or information sound like it belongs to your Farmer research? Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, TJ

Is anyone researching or come across information on Exum DAVIS b. 1825-1830? I don't know if what is below is all the same family or not. Any connections, help, or clues to the below family is greatly appreciated. On a death certificate I received for my gg grandmother Anna (DAVIS) WILLIAMS, Axim (Exum) DAVIS and Elizabeth NANCE are listed as her parents. Anna was born June 1849 in NC and died in Jan. 1936 in Richmond, Wayne Co., IN. On Familysearch I found Exum and Elizabeth getting married in 1848 in Asheboro, Randolph Co., NC. And, Exum's parents are listed as Joel DAVIS and Penniah Matilda NEWBY for his birth 27 July 1827 according to Back Creek MM. I found in the 1860 census Exum age 30; Malinda, 31; Ann, 11 (this would be my gggrandmother) a name I can't read, 9; Jane, 7; Ben, 5; Rebecca, 3; Willie, 10/12. In 1870 there was Matilda, 40; Emily, 19; Jane, 18; Ben, 16; Dolly, 14; Willie, 10; a female name I can't decipher as of yet, 8; Margaret, 5; and a no-name female ,1. Where are Exum and Ann. I think at least Ann went west, possibly her father too, since she married John WILLIAMS of IN and they have a chils born in Richmond, Wayne Co., IN in 1874. In 1880 I found Exum , 52; Elizabeth M., 53; Elizabeth Roland (dau), 22; Wiley, 20; Angeline, 18; Caroline, 16; Margaret, 13; Louiza (gdau), 14; and William P (gson), 11. thank you, Brenda in TX

George was the son of James Richard Hughes b. abt 1827 Davidson County, and Delila Myers m. 4-24-1847 Davidson County, NC. James Richard was the son of William Hughes, b. abt 1780 in Old Rowan, now Davidson County, NC. William's wife is unknown, at least to me, can not find a marriage record and she died before 1850. However, their oldest daughter, Nancy, b. abt 1807, never married, died in Davidson County leaving a small estate. Her brother, Alison/Alson acted as the executor and James Richard was named as another brother and one of the heirs. I will have to go to my files for the exact dates, but will scan and email to you if you'd like. Let me know JH

I believe the Wood family connects in some way to our Hinds line of Randolph Co. to Knox Co., Tn. It may be through the Carson family as they have used that name. I had the original marriage bond of Reuben Wood , his brother. I gave it to the genealogical library in Knoxville, Tn. I did a book including copies of about 200 original Hinds family papers.
