I just today took the Smitherman name back farther to Samuel born in 169l and Phoebe Johnson born 1695. Do you have any more info on these two or their ancestors? Samuel Smitherman born in 1723, his wife I believe, is Sarah Fitzhugh born in Virginia in 1727 - but that's it. Anything else? Thanks, Martie P.S. Don't think you'll locate any marriages that early in Randolph Co., NC. There are a very few listed in a Marriage Bond book done years ago. A copy is at the Register of Deeds Office and the Randolph Room at our local library has a copy. First Jackson I see in my "made up Marriage" book is dated 1851. I'll check the book at the ROD Office hopefully tomorrow to verify. I'll ask around. There is a marriage book being finished up about now, but don't know exactly when it will be published.
