    2. Gary, Randolph Co kept good records on those who had children without being married. I can't remember, right now, what that was called, but the Randolph Co. Journals for all of these years has most of those listed. You should contact the Asheboro Library, Genealogy area, and see if someone can find that for you. Old Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. This cemetery marks the site of the old Mt. Olivet Methodist Church and is very old. Located near Erect in the south-eastern section of Randolph County and off County Road #1002, by the side of an old road. There are many graves marked with field stones and many unmarked graves. There is possibly a brother J. Clarence MILLER, wife & child on one side and on the other is maybe a son Richard D. KENNEDY and wife, One stone further is James D., b. 1886 d. 1956 and Grace L. KENNEDY. B. 18980 - 1966. Hope this is helpful and it was found in one of the 10 cemetery books published by the Randolph County Genealogical Society. There was a Fletcher Hopkins that visited us (when I was 10) he came to Kingsport with my grandfather Dr. B. P. Ford (from Newport) Fletch was visiting my grandfather from up north. I met Fletch Hopkins and I remember that my grandfather said he was his cousin and that he was an atheist. My grandfather's mother was Harriett Hopkins of Randolph Co.,NC. which is near where my grandfather was raised . Near Gatlinburg, TN. (a place they call Grassy Fork) which is about 10 miles up a mountain from Hartford, TN. There is a write-up on my grandfather in the Newport, TN library (Stokley Memorial ) and they will fax a copy to you. He was recently named "Citizen of the Century " in Newport Plain Talk newpaper. He has been dead for approximately 25 years. He lived to be 96 years of age. Back to Flectcher Hopkins....My mother is still living and is 83 yrs old. I will ask her more about Fletcher Hopkins.
