    2. I agree whole heartedly with the name spelling situation. I have a friend in Indiana whose last name wis TROVILLION (tro-vill'-yun).. He did some family research and traced it back to a North Carolina TREVELYAN. Cookie, a Hoosier Boy in Florida << [email protected] >>

    3. Great news Kay,I found your ancestors in my records I have on my Miller line. This lady who is kin to my husband printed off lots of information for me of the decendant of John W. Miller Sr. Please e mail me and I will give you her e mail address.I see a lot of information about the Sumner family in her records. This lady has written quiet a bit on the Miller's,and has articles published in the Randolph County journal. This book is a refference book and can be looked at in the library, but some of those journals can still be purcashed, but are very expensive.I have some great pictures she gave to me,and some pictures of the old Miller's Mill if you are interested. Well I am so happy you answered my post > Hope to hear from you [email protected] Maybe you can help me also. I have been searching for a Miller family for years who had 2 daughters by the name of Mahala and Eliza Miller. Could you tell me if these names should be in your data base???? I am in need of a crowbar to bust though this brick wall. Thanking you very much. Bonnie

    1. Re: [NCRand] Re: John Robins Sr's children
    2. I would just like to tell y'all that all names are spelled in many ways. Don't stop looking if the name is not spelled exactly the way that you spell it. Long ago, many people could not read or spell, and the Clerk of the Court spells it the way he thinks it should be. As a result many descendants, who are all kin, spell in other ways. My PRESNELL name from Asheboro, is spelled that way by most Randolph Co, NC Presnells. But, since I have been collecting all PRESNELLs all over the world, who are almost all kin, I have found it spelled in many ways, such as: PRESNELL, PRESNALL, PRESNAL, PRESSNELL, PRESSNAL, PRESLEY, PRESSLEY, PRESSLY, PRIESTNAL, etc, etc. I hope this will help with what you are looking for. My husband comes from the Eastern NC BRYANs, and the 5 of us who did 4 years of research on those BRYANS (who were mostly in error in the old books) found a several page court document, and in that document there were 16 different spellings of the short name BRYAN. That sounds koo-koo, but it is so. She married Hickman Butler on 9/29/1845. In the 1850 census records for Randolph County, Ensley and Sarah Fields lived near Hickman and Eliza. I suspect this may have been her parents.
