Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kUB.2ACE/1769 Message Board Post: William Hayes, born abt 1784, married a Nancy (born abt 1797). Nancy is recorded in 1850 as having been born in VA. They had three children: Lauretta (abt 1823), Mary (abt 1827) and Calvin (abt 1832). Lauretta married Adam Brady, Calvin married first to a girl with only the initial "N" on the 1850 census, who died before 1860. He then married a RUTH abt 1862. The third child, Mary, is listed in 1850 as age 22, living with parents, and apparently has an illegitimate son William age 4.Also in the household is an elderly woman named "M Johnson", born VA, who I assume may be Nancy's mother. They lived in the area that became Browers Twp., and the Hayes name is spelled with many variations throughout censuses. Does anyone have any information on this family? Lauretta Hayes Brady was my GGgrandmother. Nancy Jones

I'm hoping someone on the list can help me with the James and John Farmer found in Hillsboro, Randolph Co., North Carolina in the 1800 Census. I'm trying to find where the James & John Farmer found in the 1820 Gwinnett Co., GA Census and the 1830 Henry Co., GA Census came from before they show up in Georgia. Ira E. Farmer (b: circa 1806, NC), son (supposedly) of the above mentioned James Farmer, gives his birth state as North Carolina. So, this is a stab in the dark. I have nothing (documents)on the two GA Farmer's (James & John) to tell me who they were, where they came from, where & when they were born, who they married, or any of their children's names. The only record I've found so far is in the 1827 GA Land Lottery, where James Farmer draws land as a Revolutionary Soldier while living in Henry County. However, I have had no luck what so ever in locating a military record for James Farmer's Revolutionary Service from the National Archives. The DAR shows a James Farmer, but he was born, served, and died in Virginia, so I don't think this is my GA James Farmer, R.S. Since James & John Farmer live close to one another in the GA Census, and the James & John Farmer are both living in Randolph County in the 1800 North Carolina Census, I'm hoping to find a link between them, or completely rule them out. Can anyone help? Do you know anyone researching these Farmer's of NC that might be willing to help? The above mentioned Ira E. Farmer is my 3rd Great Grandfather and he is also my brickwall. I have not had any luck in finding a Will to prove the GA James Farmer as Ira's father in Gwinnett, Henry, or Newton County, GA. Any and all help on this research problem would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I am also interested in this family. Laughlin (or someone in his family) is high on my list as the possible parent of John Campbell (b. 1775) of Stokes, Randolph and Surry Counties. John Campbell was probably born to a young neighbor of Laughlin's, Mary Hamilton, but the identity of John's father remains a mystery. Laughlin and his sons were close associates of Mary Hamilton's father, Ninian Hamilton, at around the time John Campbell was born, but I have not been able, as yet, to find any documentary evidence, such as bastardy bonds, wills, etc. Thanks!
