Still looking for any information names mentioned in deeds , or as a witness, any legal document any mention of the surname Poe in Randolph Co . I have found a couple of signatures of William Poe believed to have lived just across line in Chatham signed for several folks in Randolph an Alexander Wilson , also Obediah Williams , William had a wife Susannah , any mention of other Poes in connection with either William , or Susannah . One of their sons John W Poe lived in Randolph Co married Elizabeth Rains 1807 I want to connect John W Poe to them for sure also want to try to find out which family William comes from and who Susannah was before she married William . I am impressed with the immediate response that Jane got from her posting! I am now ready to join the RCGS ! I do belong to the Chatham one, and although they are VERY slow about responding, I know they are volunteers and don't have enough hands to do all the work. Dated Oct. 8, 1866 from Randolph County, North Carolina (the document originally was printed for Guilford County, but “Guilford” was crossed out and “Randolph” was written beside it). I believe that this was a warrant for ISAAC SPENCER, who was to appear before a Justice of the Peace to answer the complaint of D. HENDERSON for the non-payment of five dollars which was due in October. Signed P. ARNOLD, J.P. The back (which is hard to read) says it was executed Oct 12th, ’66, F. Rush, Shff, P. Arnold, [D.Shff?], Oct 13th, 1866, Satisfied in full by $1.39. Judgment Oct 13th, 1866 was for $1.39 and the Former Cost was $.40. I don't know anything more about the people mentioned.
