Son named James Kitchen Fisher, Tryon NC..... R. Brock >> We definitely have a connection. I am positive that he is a cousin of some of my ancestors. I need to make a phone call to get the connection as it is not in my database but I do know that all Tryon Fishers are related to the Fishers of Transylvania County, NC. Do you have a year of birth for him? Wife's name? I have several Jameses in my database. If his date of birth is about 1826 and he married Elizabeth (born July 3, 1840 and died April 22, 1904), then I have information for you. If James Caldwell's father was John Scott Fisher, I can also help you. John Scott would have been born before 1864 but after about 1850. Sorry I can't be more specific but I just didn't trace him since he wasn't my direct line. If your James was the son of John Scott Fisher (which I believe he was) then he (John Scott Fisher) was the son of John Fisher and wife Orpha Belle Carruth. John (the dad) was born 1823 and died 1864 (Civil War). Orpha Belle Carruth was born 1823 and died 1871. Their children were William Clarke Fisher (my great-grandfather), Andrew Jackson Fisher, Sue Fisher, Warren Fisher, Lee Roy Fisher, and John Scott Fisher. William Clarke Fisher and Lee Roy Fisher married sisters, Rhoda Emeline/Ellen Walker and Amanda Walker. Both of these brothers moved to Transylvania County and raised large families there. William Clarke Fisher and Amanda Walker (Lee Roy's wife) are buried in the old Tryon cemetery. I think James Caldwell is also buried there. Also, I believe that those Fishers own or did own the funeral home in Tryon. My connection that knew those Fishers very well died last year. I have another cousin who is not online but he has a lot of knowledge about the Fishers. If you are in the Tryon area, please visit the Tryon cemetery (the old one that is up the mountain from the Ford dealership and is near two churches which now are black congregations). Pls contact me again and I will try to have more information for you! Linda in Houston
