    1. [NCPOLK-L] Re: Owens/Ponder
    2. Virginia, I'm interested in your Ponder's. I have been looking for any information on a Sarah (Loudendy) Ponder, b. June 1820, d.1844 (they dates haven't been proven). She was married to Hampton (Hamp) Owens (Owen) and they lived in Polk and Rutherford Counties. I would be interested in any information that you might have. I am also interested on any info on Hampton Owens if he crosses your path. Well, I can't find my Ponder material at the moment. But there are lots of connections between the Ponders and the Owens. I did find this: Hezekiah Ponder born about 1770 in VA died about 1840 Buncombe Co., NC. somtimes listed as "Kie" He was a cabinet maker. He married Amy Ransom; she born about 1779; Children 1. Ransom Ponder 9b. 1809) this my line; he married twice a M. Owens and Margaret Splawn. Somewhere I have M. Owens parents. She dead by 1850; 2. Nancy Ponder born about 1810 3. Jehu Ponder born 1810/1815 4. James William Pinckney Ponder (went to GA in the 1830's; nothing known) 5. John Terrell Ponder b. 10 Aug. 1815; d. 21 June 1904 (Cherokee Co., GA) 6. Malinda Ponder b. about abt 1816 9 I think she married an Owens) 7. Mahalle Ponder Ransom's first wife was the daughter of Raleigh Owens and Alesy (unknown). Second wife was Margaret Splawn, daughter of William Splawn. There is a connection with David Owens; but I can't remember how it is or if we were ever able to prove it. Hang on to my address. I'm going out of town for a couple of weeks and then what's left of March is real busy, so I may forget. I've got to get reorganized here with my files! Virginia Green VaGreen100@aol.com
