Pat, There are several very old Arledge graveyards in the Green River Cove. One just has a couple of graves and is just off the road a few yards not too far from Silver Creek Church. The other is up on a hill or knoll across the river, between Green River and Bright's Creek, just downstream of the first bridge, if I remember correctly. It's in the same vicinity of the river as the "Devil's Footprint" that is in family lore and also in Frank FitzSimmons' book. It's *very* difficult to find, but I did make it up there once. The graves are fieldstones and not carved, so it's a wonderful feeling to know there's a cemetery but not much help in knowing the names of the ancestors buried there. The old folks told me about 20 years ago they were the early ARLEDGEs and maybe some other families as well. There's also a small family cemetery back in the woods back off of Erskine Road between Erskine Rd and Harmon Field in which I know at least George (1770-1869) and Abigail Braden (1786-1855) Williams are buried, and probably others in the WILLIAMS, HANNON or BRADEN families. I don't know if this is the same cemetery or not, but I have a note that their son Pulaski Williams and his wife Easter Hannon "are buried in unmarked graves in the Pacolet Hills section of Tryon near their old home place." Hope this helps! Pam ************************************* Pam Wilson Marietta, GA [email protected] Arledge Family History Project http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/8208
