Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Polk/10193 Surname: SMITH, SHEHAN, BLACKWELL ------------------------- Hello, I am still looking for and really need some help in locating my SMITH/BLACKWELL/SHEHAN ancestors. The info that I was given was taken from family Bible of his son, says Haywood SMITH was born Oct 1840 in Haywood Co., NC died Oct 1, 1914 in Greenville, SC. He married (abt 1865) Mary Ann BLACKWELL, she was born in 1845 in Polk Co., NC (previously was Rutherford Co., NC and at that time) and died July 9, 1917 in Greenville, SC. Her Pickens Co., SC Death Certificate says she died July 8, 1917 in Easley, Pickens Co., SC. Lists her parents as Billie BLACKWELL and Betsy SHEHAN. Think she was probably in Easley, SC visiting her son, Dillard SMITH at the time of her death. They lived in Welford, Spartanburg Co., SC for a short while after they married. Then they moved to Greenville, SC. Family tradtion says Haywood SMITH was the son of Bud and Margaret SMITH. I would very much like to obtain a copy of their marriage record, possibly in Haywood Co., NC or probably Polk Co, NC. Hopefully one exists. They later moved to Ross St. in Greenville, SC. They are both buried at Brandon Mills Cemetery in Greenville. Any info appreciated. Would like to find out more about ancestors and to find new cousins. Thanks, Pat Wells [email protected]
