Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Polk/142 Surname: Shehan ------------------------- Hi, My great grandfather was William Shehan and he married Jane Whitaker. I was wondering if maybe Mary had a brother named William also. William and Jane had 3 children, Bessie Henretta Shehan and her twin brother Frank or Francis Shehan b. 4-30-1881 in South Carolina. They also had a daughter named Bertha. No date of birth for her. I know that Bessie married Aaron Evers from Elizabethtown, N.C. and by the early 1900's they had moved to Laurinburg, N.C. because their children were born there between 1907-1916.I have no other information on Frank/Francis Shehan or Bertha Shehan. If any of this information sounds familiar, please e-mail me at this address,,,,,,,,,,[email protected] I thank you in advance. Rita L. Lewis
Dear Ann: Received a copy of your query on the [email protected] I cannot find Richard Whiteside on the 1870, 1880 or 1900 Polk Co., Census. He must have been living elsewhere. I do have some information on the family you mentioned. Please let me make a few assumptions: Otis Columbus Cochran and Louise Ella Whiteside had a daughter Rose Bell Cochran who married William Lester Jimison, whose son Charles Edward Jimison married Elizabeth Ann Arledge. Could this be you? If so I have only that your mother's name was Sarah S., 20 Nov 1904-6 Jan 1995; If this is correct I would like to know her full name and anything you will tell me about her ancestors as well as everything you will share with me about your and your husband's family lines. I have been doing genealogy as a hobby in and about Polk Co., NC. and if you will show me what you have on your lines of interest I will appreciate it and will also sent you any details I have that you do not have. Thanks, Joe A. Cowart, 829 Indian River Dr., Cocoa, FL 32922-7530 or [email protected]
Does anyone have an index to the Polk Co Census of 1870, 1880, 1900 I am trying to find Richard Whiteside who married Sarah Walker Edgerton. I am interested in finding their 10th child, Louisa Ella Whiteside who was born in 1865. The family might have lived in the Poplar Grove area. Louisa might be listed in the 1900 census as the wife of Otis Columbus Cochran. Thanks for your time. Ann

I did put this on the internet. More and more find it and read it. At first there were not even any pictures. In the 50s Mary Morris Lived on Pea Ridge Road in Mill Springs, NC 28756. I don't know if she is still living. I have forgotten who her relatives were. You may be able to check at the court house in Columbus. NC to see if she is. In the court house you can look for marriages, deaths and births in the 1800s up to the 1920.s
