    2. I dont have the 1860 census for Polk and the county did not exist in 1850. I do have the 1850 Rutherford census and neither of your names are listed. Try 1860 or the 1850 Henderson county census. sorry

    1. Re: [NCPOLK] Joseph Moore & Rebecca Ballew
    2. My Joseph "Big Joe" Moore(1814-1902) was a slave on the Richard and Margaret Moore plantation on White Oak Creek in Polk County. At that time Polk County was Rutherford and Henderson Counties. Polk county was established in 1855. We do not know his parents, but his wife was Harriet, Cherokee. She had some children, but I think he may have had other children. The children we knew were: Angeline, Elmina, Sara Ann, Lizzie, Susan, and Bill. Alphia Wills

    3. Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Polk/147 Surname: Moore, Ballew ------------------------- I'm looking for ancestors/descendants of Joseph Moore, born circa 1760 in North Carolina. He married Rebecca Ballew circa 1784. He registered to pay taxes in Rutherford County in 1785 and purchased 200 acres on Haueds(Howards/Hughes?)Creek from Jessee Briggs on June 12, 1794. I received information that this creek is now in Polk County. Circa 1806 he moved to Caldwell County, KY. If you have information that Haueds Creek is in Polk County or who Joseph's parents were, please let me know. Joseph's children were Delilah, Edmund L, Alexander, William L, Joab, Burt Greenberry, John Major, Daniel Boone, Hester Ann, Robert Wilson and Greenberry H. 2. I do not find a Lewis Edwards on the 1860 census of Polk Co., NC, but Evaline, age 42, appears in the family of Benjamin Edwards and Susan Whiteside, in Columbus Twp., #98. I think she later married John Thomas McDade. Let me know if you get this and more particulars on your line of interest. Joe A. 3. Hi, Polk County became a county in 1855. Therefore your family could be in Henderson County or Rutherford County because that is what Polk County was in 1850. I hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glenna Kinard" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 6:50 PM Subject: [NCPOLK] 1860 census lookup, please. > Can some kind soul please tell me if, in the 1850 Polk County NC census, > there are: > > (1) Evaline Edwards (born ca 1817) > > and > > (2) Lewis H.
