Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Polk/188 Surname: Green, Biggerstaff, Bickerstaff ------------------------- Looking for a William Green, possibly from old Tryon County. Here's what I know: He married a Bickerstaff or Biggerstaff, also possibly from Tryon. They had a son, John, born in Abbeville, SC in 1790. About 1800, they moved to Jackson Co., GA. Son John married Nancy Betts Jones and went with her family and others to Conecuh Co., AL about 1817. At some point, William went back to South Carolina, and reportedly died in Sandy Plains, NC, but I don't know whether it was the Sandy Plains in Polk or Cleveland County. William is supposedly descended from a Robert Green who received a land grant from the English Crown for services rendered to them. The grant was in the area where the Battle of Cowpens was fought. The family was probably Irish. Would like to correspond with you if you have information about this family.
Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Polk/187 Surname: Moore, Ballew ------------------------- I find in Polk County a "Hughes Creek". Look for the intersection of Hwy #9 and Hwy 14, then move southwest along Hwy 14 toward the S.C line. It is about midway between the intersection of #9 and #14 and the South Carolina state line.

Hi Dottie: This is my family also. Ransom Ponder was married twice. His first wife was a Miss Owens; given name unknown. I descend from this marriage. His second marriage was to Margaret Splawn, she is also a many time great aunt of mine as she was a sister to my great grandfather A. G. Splawn, who married Mary Ponder, the daughter of Ransom and his first wife Miss Owens. Ransom was probably born in South Carolina. It is believed that his father was "Ki" Ponder, a cabinet maker. Hoping to share more information with you. Virginia Green [email protected] Tampa, FL

Posted on: Polk County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Polk/179 Surname: Edwards, Burgess, Tallant, Powell, Womack ------------------------- Any information about the John W Edwards from Polk County would be very helpful. Census Information from the 1920 Census has: John W Edwards, 79 Martha, 64 Mary, 22 Frank, 23 Waldon, 3 Myrtle, baby In a previous census report (1870) this same John W is listed as having the wife, Talula Annie Burgess. I believe she is my ggggrandmother. (Does anyone know where her grave might be?) Talula Annie and John also had some other children...Ramah and Albert. I also saw that Annie's parents Albert & oops...can't recall right off what her mother's name was--her parents probably lived next door. I have also found where John W. Edwards enlisted in the Civil War. If anyone has any info about this family, I would appreciate it. You may e-mail me directly [email protected] Thanks a bunch, Linda

Go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/subscribe/subscribetrial1y.asp?sourcecode=F11HB Bob, is this the Phillip b 1810 who was the son of Moses Henderson b ca 1775 and had siblings Gabriel, Isaac, Michael, Amos, Moses II, Providence, and Allen? If it is, I have him marrying Susanna Bryan in my undocumented data base and having 9 children: Nancy Sophia, James, William, Osburn P., Martha, Phillip, Francis, George, and Columbus. This info came from Vol. 45 Pedigree 1279 of the Family Tree CDs. I believe that Moses was the son of William in Rutherford NC and his grandfather was also named William. I believe that my Benjamin Henderson is related somehow to this family. Bob Henderson Dallas TX
