    2. I have on John Jackson only his location on the 1860 census of Polk Co., NC, [Columbus Twp., #121] and I carry his wife as Elizabeth Dinnah Coward [1850 Rutherford Co., NC; 1860 with husband in Polk Co., NC; 1870 Grainger Co., TN]. She was a d/o Stephen Coward and Amelia Rogers. She appears to have married (2) Henry Biddie on 23 Mar 1871 and thereafter H. W. Patterson. Joe A. He spelled the name as Irvin or Irven. He definately said it began with an "I". He said her family came from England and that she had a brother that lived in the Ashville area but could only remember refering to him as "Uncle Bud". He also said she had a brother named Posey. I had always been told that Elzadie/Elzodie was a native American but now I am unsure of this information. My father is old and my have some facts confused. I plan to talk with him later today and I will ask him why we were always told by eveeryone that she was Native American. Please feel free to e-mail me at any time. I have some pictures you might be interested in seeing.

    2. I seem to have missed the original question about Levi Graham. I do not know what info they were looking for, but I find a marriage record for Levi S.Graham and Mary Searcy on 11/21/1850. Thought I'd pass it along in case it can help someone. This record is from the book Marriage Records of Rutherford County NC. The book only lists the names of the bride, groom and date of marriage. Hope this helps someone. Marlene Avery

    1. Re: [NCPOLK] Bridgeman Family
    2. I tried to find some records for you, but was unsuccessful. My relatives married into a Bridgeman family. They lived in what is/was known as "Dark Corner" south carolina, a mountainous area that covered the corner of Spartanburg and Greenville county in South Carolina and Polk and Henderson county in North Carolina. You might try records in Greenville and Spartanburg counties. The fact that he died in Polk county could mean a tie here because the nearest hospital to Dark Corner would be in Polk county, and Landrum is nearby. Dark Corner is on parts of Glassy Mountain, which might be another place to search and Glassy Mountain has one side of it in Henderson county.
