Are any of you researching the Snelling and Lawrence families in the Chowan and Perquimans Co. N.C. area? Are these Lawrence families, by chance, related to the ones in Isle of Wright Co., VA? On my maternal grandmother's lineage, I have a Robert Lawrence who's daughter Jane Lawrence married Henry Gay Jr. They had a son, John Gay, who died in N.C. about 1783 with a will. I THINK he was in Edgecomb County or that general vicinity at the time of his death. Isn't this fairly close to Perquimans and Chowan??
