Just want to help someone if I can with this Bible record by Hosea Smith as follows: NOTE: This begins with Joseph to John to Hosea and it is Hosea that is the writer of the Bible record below. Some of the writing is not readable so one’s imagination will have to fill in several gaps in the text. Charles. When I arrived at the White Springs On the 5th day of June 1810, then Indian territory and now State of Indiana, Pike county 1844. I now commence to give some account of records of my family. Seeing the great neglect of the human family which is so great a fault in this world of that branch of blessings and so many thousands of families at this time have no knowledge of their Existence or forefathers by neglect of not keeping a Book of Records. But few people can leit [sp] anything further back than their grandfather or grandmother and that mostly by hearsay, more ……. At this date I now commence to write of suppose my grandfather Joseph SMITH was born about the year 1712. By what Jean ….. by hearsay in year of our Lord 17… settled in North Carolina, perquimans County, he settled ….. built…. My father bought after ……. Amongst first settlers. Isaac Lamb settled on the opposite side my grandfather- brother Samuel SMITH settled higher up the swamp on the same side. John Saunders and Abraham Wilson between Isaac Lamb and Samuel SMITH. My father-John SMITH, was born in the year of our Lord 1745 and died in the year of 1797, living about 52 years. My grandfather married Sarah Jourdan and his brother Samuel SMITH married Leah Jourdan, her sister. Their brother Jacob Jourdan had a large family in Chowan County by his first wife when they came from England they landed in Virginia not knowing what time previously. My father married in Pasquotank County where I was born, the plantation lay on the head of Great Flatty Creek where my grandfather Abraham Hosea settled. After the death of my mother Lovey Hosca, my father married a second time Mary Simons. She dying … birthing son caled John SMITH …… to Perquimans and lived with his mother and bought the land near the Cypress Bridge where it emptied into the Pasmaquody Bay and there built a large house and then third wife Widow Cannon on Chohan River living but a few years and died. He then married fourth wife a very young woman and left her a widow and several children, her name was Mary Elliott. Hulda Harrell daughter of Silas Harrell and Mary his wife was born 2nd day of April in the year of our Lord 1774 In the state of Virginia Na….. County. Hulda Harrell was first married to Jonathan Wilson- had one daughter Penninah Wilson daughter of Jonathan Wilson and Hulda his wife. Hosea SMITH and Hulda Wilson was married the 4th day of march in the year of our Lord 1798 in North Carolina Perquimans County and set out for the west on the 10th day of April and came to the White Oak Springs on the 5th day of June 1810. Indiana Territory. Ages of our Children Theophila SMITH daughter of Hosea SMITH and Hulda his wife was born the 11th day of December in the year of our Lord 1792 and 3rd day of the week in North Carolina Perquimans County. Saxony SMITH born 27 December 1800 died in 11 days. Henry SMITH, son of Hosea SMITH and Hulda his wife was born the 27th day of May in the year of our Lord 1802 on the 5th day of the week, North Carolina, Perquimans County. Onias SMITH son of Hosea and Hulda his wife was born 3rd day of February in the year of our Lord 1805 and the first day of the week in North Carolina, Perquimans county. Warren SMITH son of Hosea SMITH and Hulda hios wife was born the 2nd day of February in the year of our Lord 1811 on the 7th day of the week in the state of Indiana then territory at white Oak Springs Then Knox County. Hosea Harrell SMITH son of Hosea SMITH and Hulda his wife was born October 31`st in the year of our Lord 1816- indiana white Oak Springs, Pike county established in the year 1817. A Space left to Record the deaths Hosea SMITH son of John Smith and Lovey his wife departed this life the 1st day of November in the year of our Lord 1846, aged 72 years 26 days Sunday evening 31st October. Hulda SMITH wife of Hosea SMITH departed this life the 22nd day of June in the year of our Lord 1845 Sunday evening 5:00 aged 71 years 2 months and 20 days. Been married the last time 47 years 3 months leaving 5 children, 29 grand children 10 great grand children total 44 the number at this date altogether lived at the White Oak Springs 35 years. Nancy Smith wife of Hosea died 1 Nov. 1876, aged 55 years 5 months 17 days. Hosea H. Smith died 29 November 1876 aged 60 years 29 days.
