My ancestor Elizabeth Wiatt was the daughter in law of James Oates, yet she called her his wife. Her parents were John and Rachel Calloway Wiatt. She was at least three years of age when James the Old died 6/Oct/1703. How much more information in her book is wrong. Also she quotes from what she claims is the Parish records in all of this. Elizabeth's husband was Joseph Oates d.b.7/Aug/1697. She maintained that Joseph had a brothers named John, and Jesse, and a sister named Mary, but these could not have been his siblings born in 1667, 1669, and 1672.
