This was a School for the children of Quaker families in Perquimans and Chowan counties. I was told by the now 84 year old grand-daughter of a member of the Piney Woods Meeting that most of the children boarded with Quaker families in Belvidere during the week, and went home to their parents' farms at weekends.
Hello Rootsweb list members, I just found out from Julia French Wood that attachments do not go through the Rootsweb filter. As a result, I've had a lot of personal requests today from list members asking for the' belvidere.pdf file'. I'm happy to accomodate anyone else's request for this file. Simple email me at [email protected] and I will send you the pdf as an attachment. It's a pleasure to be able to help other's unravel the past, as other's in this group have helped me. Hello I am trying to help someone find his roots. He says his grandfather, Archiebald Nixon came from Hertford . Archie's father was George Seay Nixon. Some of his ancestors ran a ferry. I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about the ferry? What years did it run and what body of water it crossed. Has anyone got either of these two men in their files? Thanks for any help Alice
I received a chart from a Fran Ethridge, but have not confirmed this yet. She mentioned Richard Grave, WIlliam Hancock, John Smithwick, and Fernifold Green. Frances Moore listed George Linnington, but I actually think, she is talking about George Lillington the son of Alex and Sarah James Lillington. I have seen a deed in History of Perquimans County which listed Hannah and Lydia as the wife and dau of William Hancock, but cannot recall what deed. Any information available about these children? The LDS films don't appear to be of any help. Helen Wentworth, Sandwich, Mass.

Ben Kettlewell, I am interested in your response to Frances' query concerning Joshua White. I think he may be the father-in-law of my great Aunt Ella (Layden) White who lived in Belvidere. Unfortunately, I don't have any genealogical data. I would, however, be keenly interested nin the Adobe file you mentioned.
