    1. Re: [NCPERQUIMANS] Elizabeth LILLEY EIVANS OATES.
    2. I descend from both Hannah Lilleys and with a little help,we will attempt to explain the Harvey connection. John Lilley Sr and Elizabeth had the following Children: John Jr, Thomas, William, and Ann Lilley. John Lilley Jr. Married Hannah Phelps, widow of Henry Phelps, (who lived on the point) before 1694, John Jr and Hannah Phelps Lilley had the following Children: Sarah, Hannah and another John Jr Lilley.(1). Sarah Lilley married William Tetterton and had no children, but William Tetterton is a wittness to Thomas Harvey Sr. Will probated Nov. 10, 1729.(Most likely in the right of his wife. Sarah Lilley) (2). Hannah Lilley, dau of John Jr. and Hannah Phelps Lilley, born 1694, married James Sitterson, (one of the sitting Justices) In the will of Thomas Harvey Jr. probated Jan 1748, this will list Hannah Lilley Sitterson as "Aunt" Here are two Harvey Wills with Lilley Children involved, the Doc. with the connection has not surfaced but the link is in there somewhere as there are Harvey names on later Sitterson Doc. also, any help on this would be appreciated. To complicate my research more, John Lilley Jr. and Hannah also had a son named (3) John Lilley Jr, who married unknown wife and had two sons, another John Lilley Jr. and a son Joshua Lilley. This John LilleyJr. married Casiah Rogerson, eldest dau of Daniel Rogerson and Hannah Lilley,(dau of Thomas) who would have been her second cousin. This Hannah Lilley Rogerson was the dau of Thomas Lilley (the brother of John jr, and William Lilley)(The Hannah Lilleys were first Cousins) This Hannah Lilley married Daniel Rogerson 1710. Thomas Lilley married Sarah Kitching, dau of William Kitching, Vestryman. Richard

    2. Look at this site: <www.geocities.com/Rogerson_Family/lilly.html> I also would like to know more of the Hannah Lilly you speak of. The only Hannah Lilly I know of married Daniel Rogerson (1710-1762). Hannah was the daughter of Thomas Lilly, one John and Elizabeth Lilly's sons. I would be interested in how Thomas Harvey is kin to these folks...Al

    2. In a message dated 9/14/01 11:53:10 AM US Eastern Standard Time, GenieAlice writes: Alice, I have Nixons in these counties who were Quakers. My particular branch starts in 1681 with Zachariach Nixon marrying Elizabeth Page. Then another Zachariah who married Elizabeth Symons and died 12 Aug 1739. We switch then to Phineas Nixon b. 07 Jan 1710 and married to Mary Trotter then Mary Pierce. His son Phineas b. 04 Apr 1763 moved to Randolph County and my direct line in Pasquotank and Perquimans ends. All of these Nixons had lots of children and it is possible your Cornelius descends from them. They seemed to own land in both Perquimans and Pasquotank Counties, but apparently were members of Little River Meeting which was in Perquimans County although a part of the Pasquotank Monthly Meeting. There was also at least one non-Quaker Nixon in Pasquotank Co. He signed his will the 4th day of February 1687 in Pasquotank Precinct. He apparently had no sons so not an ancestor of yours, but shows that there was at least one Nixon who was not a Quaker. If any of this is of any interest to you, let me know. 3. Is there anyone doing research on the LILLEY family. John LILLEY Sr. and his wife Elizabeth moved into the area between the Little River and Perq River. Could anyone tell me where they came from before that time I believe they moved into the area about 1670. Would there be any land records to point to who all received tracts of land from John Sr. I am trying to determine the last name of John Sr.'s wife. He died in Dec. 1688 is there a will which maybe published in a book for him. Whoever John LILLEY Sr.'s widow was Elizabeth. She I think married Richard EIVANS Jr. he was made Guardian of LILLEY'S four children John Jr., William, Ann, and Thomas. Also her third husband was my ancestor James OATES also called James the Old. 3. Could someone do a lookup for information about a Law suit brought against James and Elizabeth Oates by the descendants of John LILLY Sr. Supposedly Elizabeth was John Sr.'s widow and received a large inheritance from LILLY's Estate. His heirs claimed that the inheritance belonged to them and hauled them into court. This had to be after she and James were married in 1694. Could anyone tell me if Elizabeth were a PERRY or a HARVE. She is referred to in one or two documents as Gov. HARVE'S AUNT. Thank you JAcob L. Bateman III --------------------------------------------------------------- NetZero Platinum Only $9.95 per month!
