You can check the State Library of North Carolina's newspaper page at: http://statelibrary.dcr.state.nc.us/tss/newspape.htm It has county and city lists of historical newspaper holdings. Whether anything published (and extant) from the region in 1836 had actual death notices is unknown. I would be very grateful if someone would look up the following for me in the 1900 Perquimans County N.C. census, probably in the Hertford area: David L. Copeland family Hugh Copeland family Henry Newby family William Speight family Also hoping to find a cemetery book for Perquimans County. Is one available? I need to find the above families, many of whom are probably buried in Cedarwood cemetery. Of special interest in this regard is finding the death date of Charles Evans, father of Lucille Ethel Evans who married Hugh Copeland in the home of Henry Newby in 1896 or 1898, Hertford. Did a newspaper exist in the Perquimans Co. area in 1836? I'm trying to find some type of death notice for my 3rd ggrandfather, John SIVAGE (sometimes spelled SAVAGE, SEVAGE, SVAGE, SWAGE), who died on Christmas Day, 1836. I realize this was too early for recorded death certificates, and hoped to find some type of notice *somewhere*. Thanks for any info!!! You can call (yes, call and they will tell you what's on there also before they copy it) the Perquimans County Court House and they will make a copy for you for 50 cents. Or, if you live in NO, you can send your requst to the archives adn I think it is 10 cents per page there. --- Tracy Jones <[email protected]> wrote: > I wondered how I can get a copy of a marriage bond > (who to contact, cost, > etc.)?
