Sandi, I've far too many names to ask you for lookups, would you tell me where you purchased the CD#509? Thanks Lindy
Fellow researchers, I think it's a wonderful gesture of the person who has volunteered to do free lookups. It will help many find info which might be difficult to obtain otherwise. Please e-mail that person privately as all of the personal requests are coming on to all of our mails. I have both books of J. Bryan Grimes and would be more that happy to look up/send information from either one. Please e-mail directly me at ashely2@aol.com (spelled ashely2 not ashley2). Beth
I would be thrilled to know of any MOND(S), MUND(S), MUN(S) or other spellings, wills. Mine were in Chowan, Perquimans, maybe Bertie or Gates counties. This family is elusive! Now then, I have cd's 229 and 004...Marriage indexes for KY, NC, TN, VA, WV 1728-1850; and MD, NC, and VA 1624-1915. These don't give a lot of info, but might hold a clue for someone! Carolyn
Hi - Could you look for David Bowles who died around 1777 in Pasquotank Co. and also for Daniel Rhodes. Thanks so much, Karin Goudy

the only mention is they both witnessed the will of Joseph Reading 6/29/1731 in Pasq Co.
Hi Sandi Anything for Jesse Sykes/Sikes? Thanks so much! Karen Haskett
I wanted to let everyone know what was on this CD, so the dates will be known for the wills. I will do look ups for the list from this CD North Carolina Wills: A Testator Index, 1665-1900 by Thornton W. Mitchell An index to more than 75,000 persons who died and left wills in North Carolina between 1655 and 1900, this volume represents one of the single most important finding-aids in North Carolina genealogy. Organized by surname, you'll find name of testator, county in which the individual's will was proved, date of probate, book and page number where you'll find a copy of the will, and location of the original will. The author also provides a concise history of the probate records of all 107 North Carolina counties. Within the history he details the date of the county's formation, the territory from which it was formed, the dates wills were first filed and recorded, the various record book designations, the status of the records, and the location of the original, recorded and copied wills. North Carolina Wills And Inventories by J. Bryan Grimes A critical source on North Carolina's pre-Revolutionary War families, here you'll find the full text of 200 wills and 50 inventories. This includes the period of time when the recording of wills was the responsibility of North Carolina's counties. The records not only provide detailed assessments of an individual's material possessions they also note family members, friends, and relationships. Abstract Of North Carolina Wills, 1663-1760 Compiled from wills found in the Office of the Secretary of State of North Carolina, the abstracts collected here reference approximately 20,000 names. Alphabetically arranged according to the name of the testator, the abstracts usually provide the following information: date of will administration, place of residence, names of plantations mentioned, page number and will book in which you'll find a copy of the original record, and names of family members, witnesses, and probate officers. An Abstract of North Carolina Wills from About 1760 to About 1800, Supplementing Grimes' Abstract of North Carolina Wills 1663-1760 Arranged alphabetically by county and by surname, this volume supplements a 1906 work by J. Bryan Grimes containing abstracts of the State Wills. The State Wills were those recorded during the period between 1663 and 1760, when it was required that wills be filed in the office of the Secretary of State. After 1760 wills were recorded at the county level. This comprehensive volume covers abstracts of wills from 1760 to 1800 from the entire state of North Carolina. Generally, you'll find the following information: name of testator, dates of will, and names of family members.
I purchased CD509 North Carolina Wills and will be happy to do look ups sandi

I am searching to see if anyone can do a lookup for the following names in Henshaw's Quaker Encyclopedia. Callaway, Evans, Oates, and Wyatt. I think that my ancestor James Oates might be a Anglican, but I am not exactly sure. Is there an index of Civil marriages in the Perquimans Area. There are two dates listed for his marriage. 7/Sep/1694 married by Capt Anthony Dawson. And 11/Sep/1694 by Thomas Harve Esq De. Governor both are in Wynnette Parks Haun's Book Old Albemarle County Perquimans Precinct North Carolina Births, Marriages, Deaths, and Flesh Marks 1659-1959. Would both of these be civil marriages. Or is there an Index which list Civil Marriages, because the Church of England had not been established in Perquimans at this tme. I'll be back in a few weeks, just moving across town.
Hi Reese, I've been looking for a Perquimans Parish. My Cannons may have been in Goochland, VA from pre-1660. In 1767 my Jeremiah Cannon's will was witnessed by Humphrey Parrish, his neighbor for some time in Goochland. There is a line of Jeremiah Cannons in Perquimans. First one about 1688. I think a branch of my Cannons moved to Perquimans from Goochland, then to NE TN in Jefferson and Knox Counties. Do you know the early migrations of your Parish group? Any Cannons, Bartletts, Taylors, Easts, Woodwards or Woodsons involved? Thanks. Bart Cannon Seattle
I'm new to this list. I'm a direct descendant of Thomas Jacocks I whose will was probated in Perquimans Precinct in 1692. His wife's name was Ann we learned from old deeds executed by Thomas and wife. In the Perquimans court records of 7 of August, 1694, two years after the death of Thomas, it is stated "A deed of gift acknowledged in court by Ann Parish, formerly Jacocks, and John Parish her husband, to her son, John Huffton. We assume this was the widow of Thomas as he was the only adult person of record by that name in the Albemarle section then. Since the gift was to her son, John Huffton, it can be assumed with considerable assurance that Thomas married as his second wife, the widow Huffton of Perquimans precinct. Her maiden surname is unknown as is any further info about her. Thomas and Ann were the founders of the Jacocks family in N. Carolina. They left one son, Jonathan, born ca 1686, died ca 1735. Jonathan married first Elizabeth Collins, of Pasquotank Co. widow of William C. No issue here. His second wife was Mary Blount, eldest child of John Blount and his wife, Elizabeth Davis Blount. Will welcome any information concerning this family and will be glad to exchange info. The above is from the book, 'DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS JACOCKS' by Dr. William Picard Jacocks.
