I have a part of an old plank from that road as a momento. About 200 yards past my home was a spring and a campground where the travelers often spent the night. > An interesting project is to plot the route of the road on a topographical map. You will find that it followed the ridges and very seldom crossed a stream. In fact, Deep river near Gulf was the only major stream it had to cross. Does anyone know if there was a ford somewhere in that area which made crossing easier? I'm sure that is how they crossed Lower Little River just north of Fayetteville and Upper Little River SW of Jonesboro (now Sanford). The latter crossing was rather near the headwaters and thus not very big. > Good Searching - Good Finding - Good Luck!
