Also, if anyone is interested in Mathew McCauley, his wf (Martha Johnston) briefly mentioned this episode in her pension application, but to a minor degree as Mathew was deceased when she related it. McCauley was also captured with Gov. Burke. Martha McCauley said they were taken to Wilmington and put aboard a British prison ship. Mathew spent 6 horrible months off coast of Charleston. Martha recalled the ship as "The Eske". Seems was name of British officer's wife.
