I agree with Larry. If folks want info from the list why not just join? Also, I as well as others on this list have (heaven forbid) made mistakes (typo's) and usually tried to correct them as soon as they were noticed. So, playing "what if", What if the 3rd party, not on the list, received only the first message. I know what I post to this list - and I would be more than a little uncomfortable to think that some message of mine was floating out in cyberspace where I had no control over who received the info/misinfo. and having no way of fixing it. This may seem like I'm beating a dead horse but I did send some information to a party on a list that at the time I had not joined. By chance, some time later, I joined the list and found my information being posted by this party. No problem with that but she had changed the parentage of the ancestor. I believe not intentionally - but nevertheless - she had the ancestor connected to my maternal rather than paternal line. I was lucky to catch it and inform her of her mistake. This bit of "misinformation" is still coming back to haunt me. Seems lots of folks "took it for fact". The worst part, she was good enough to give me credit for the information <g>. My third argument is that I know a bit about the people on this list and I trust them (from reading their messages). Bottom line, I wouldn't like my "stuff" to be sent to "anyone". I am more than will to share, that's why I joined this list. And, if any party wants me to share, and is not on this list, I would suggest that they contact me (last I heard, snail mail is still running) and I would be happy to send them what information I have.
