For you Trollinger researchers..... Benjamin Trollinger After Haw River Benjamin Trollinger was a man of great spirit and energy. After his property in Haw River had been sold, he moved. Backed by his father, he started a business distilling turpentine, first in Johnston County and later at a larger site in Richmond County, NC. He also was a contractor for the building of the railroad between Wilmington and Charlotte. When the Civil War began, he went to a spot near Wilmington and started two salt works. He was cited for his patriotism in helping to complete the garrison at Fort Caswell at his own expense. His creditors had nearly been paid off when he contracted yellow fever and died in 1862 while staying with his parents in Haw River. He is buried in the Trollinger Cemetery. ==== NCORANGE Mailing List ==== Larry Noah - lrnoah@bigfoot.com - Listowner - NCORANGE mailing list Orange Co, NC USGenWeb site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncorange List archives are at http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/NCORANGE-L/97/
