We all learn that there is usually no one way to spell the names of our ancestors. This is especially true in the area of old Orange County where there were may non-English speaking immigrants. Quite often names will be spelled as they are pronounced (accent and all). We must also remember that many English speaking immigrants did not read or write so there will be variations with them as well. There is really no rule of thumb on spellings such as KIMBRO begin German and KIMBROUGH being English as I once thought.
