Hey, everybody! I know this internet stuff is new to everyone, well at least for me it is, I would like to correspond with all the genealogist that are searching in the Orange County North Carolina for the family of Hopkins. My name is Jack Hopkins. My interests are the Hopkins families in the area of Orange County North Carolina in the 1750's. I believe that all of the Hopkins in this area are of some kind of kin to each other, especially the ones that came from the Eastern Shores of Maryland. I have been searching the Hopkins family since 1973. In the past few years my work has really started to pay off. Most of my work is on the Hopkins families in North Georgia. I have found my direct line to the 1750's and have met some of my long lost cousins. Some of them don't care about their history and others worship their history. It's just like genealogist, some of them do all the work and others wait until someone else does it for them. I don't mind searching, spending the time, and spending money on my research, but I do not like to waste my time or money. I would like to start a roster of every Hopkins genealogist with a few questions and answers. Also, I would like to correspond by mail with letters, too. I think we should start the roster and move on to form some kind of family club of the Hopkins Families of Orange County North Carolina or what I like a "Hopkins Constellation Club" to help each other with our research and carry on the research as we get older. What do your think ???? I think that all of our forefathers are stars and each group will form a family constellation of Hopkins. Here goes nothing, the questions: (1) The Hopkins member you are researching ? (2) Name of todays county that was part of Orange county North Carolina in 1752 were they lived ? (3) What records do you have to prove they were in Orange county North Carolina ? Be brief. (4) Where can the records be found today, list only a couple ?, (5) What year were they in Orange county or if your uncertain what year ? (6) If know or uncertain where did the family come from before Orange county ? (7) If known or who you think their forefathers were ? (8) What religion do you think your kin was a member of ? (9) What country do you think your kin was from overseas ? (10) Person submitted this information ?, (11) Internet name ? (12) Address for letters ? The questions just ask who, what or where. If it is ok, I will keep the roster of information and if everyone agrees only the persons on the roster can get a copy of the roster information. I used Quattro Pro, but can change the information to a work processor form. I think if we all get together maybe we can help each other and maybe we could develope a book together on the Hopkins families. What do you think ?? Let me know. Maybe I am asking too much, but I think someone needs to start something to help each other. I know some genealogist have done a great deal of research, others just do it here and there, some do it for a while and then stop and pick up later, and some just live the history. I guess I am a little of each but to hear my fellow employees at work , they say I live the history. I think genealogy is a honorable mission that is on going and I wish to preserve the facts of my family, know matter what they did and only the facts, ma'am. Thanks for your time. ==== NCORANGE Mailing List ==== Larry Noah - lrnoah@bigfoot.com - Listowner - NCORANGE mailing list Orange Co, NC USGenWeb site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncorange GENDEX at http://www.gendex.com/gendex/ has over 1400 databases on line
