There were a number of Orange County Germans naturalized in the Superior Court of Rowan County at Salisbury in the 1760's. My guess is that since these people lived in the western part of Orange that Salisbury was easier to get to and also probably friendlier (they spoke German?) than the Orange County courthouse at Hillsborough. I have a list and will try to get these names transcribe when I get a round tuit. There were also some Germans naturalized about the same time in Hillsborough, Orange Co. I do not have any list of these. There have been researchers that have claimed that some of these people who were naturalized in Rowan County were Irish. No one has ever answered this question. "If they were born in Ireland and in the British colony of North Carolina, why did they need to be naturalized?"
