He married Sarah CATES, daughter of Thomas and Martha CATES. They had five children. This family lived on New Hope and Collins Creeks, Orange County, Richard signed as security when his brother William qualified as Administrator of the estate of their father on 28 Aug 1866. "Rich CHEEK" was named as a surviving son in the petition for sale of land of their father on 30 Aug 1866. He died during the fall of 1868 and was buried at Cane Creek Church, Orange County. 10...Alfred CHEEK, born 1817. House #568 in the 1850 Census of Orange County consisted of Alfred CHEEK, age 32, and Renny CHEEK, age 28. They apparently had children: the Court petition of 30 Aug 1866 lists as grandchildren "heirs of Alfred CHEEK", but they are not named. 11...Wesley CHEEK, born 1820. He married Euphemia ---?, they had one daughter. At the May 1847 Term of the Orange County Court there was a petition by "Eupheme CHEEK", widow of Wesley CHEEK, dec'd, who "departed this life in the month of April 1847, he died leaving his widow and a child under age unprovided for"; petition to allot a year's provisions. William CHEEK qualified as Administrator, and provided support for the widow and child. A report of sale of personal property was made at May Term 1849, and a final inventory was filed on 1 Aug 1849 (Orange Co Estate Papers, NC Archives). In the 1880 Census, "Euphemi CHEEK, widow, age 54, mother-in-law" lived in the home of Sidney C. and Mary B. DURHAM, Bingham Township, Orange County.
