Part 2...continuing the children of Robert "Robin" CHEEK, and his wife Patsey ANDREWS of Orange County, NC. 4....Robert CHEEK Jr, born 2 Aug 1805. He was married on 15 Dec 1831 to Elizabeth ROBERSON, daughter of Merrett ROBERSON and Sarah BAILEY, with Henry CHEEK as witness. They lived in the area which is present day Alamance County, and had seven children. His will was dated 1 April 1865 and was proved at the Dec 1865 Term of Alamance County Court. The will named his wife Elizabeth executrix, and gave her full use of land and property for "as long as my children stay with their mother", and named four children then living with her (Alamance WB-1:248). note: ( Marriage Bond gives name of wife of Robert Jr. as "Elizabeth ROBINSON") 5... Mary Ann CHEEK, born 1807. Neither she nor her heirs are listed in the Court petition to sell land of Robert CHEEK, dated 30 Aug 1866. It is assumed that she died without surviving children, prior to that date. 6...Henry CHEEK, born 1809 (age 41 in 1850 Census). He was married in Orange County on 2 Jan 1829 to Silvia WILLIAMS (b. 1807), daughter of David WILLIAMS (Marriage Bond). They had seven children. On 27 Nov 1860 "Henry CHEEK and Silvey his wife" sold to Frederick WILLIAMS an undivided interest devised under will of her late father, David WILLIAMS, in one tract of 340 acres on waters of Cane Creek and in another tract of 140 acres, residence of the late David WILLIAMS, adjoining Richard JONES and heirs of James WATSON (Orange DB-36:314). In the 1880 Census, Silvia CHEEK, widow, age 77, was living in the home of her son, Henry CHEEK, House #194, Bingham Township, Orange County. 7...Merritt CHEEK, born 9 Oct 1811. He married first on 1 Jan 1832 to Fannie HUNTER (Marriage Bond). They had three children. He was married second on 25 Jan 1848 to Elizabeth WEAVER (b. 1824). They had one daughter. Merritt CHEEK operated a cotton brokerage business in Chapel Hill, NC. He was elected Constable of Chapel Hill Township on 5 Aug 1869, and was elected first Mayor of Chapel Hill, 1879-1881. He was also Orange County Commissioner, 1884-1886. He signed as security when his brother William qualified as Administrator of the estate of their father on 28 Aug 1866. Merritt purchased the land of their father sold under Court order, 80 acres adjoining William CHEEK, the sale confirmed at Nov 1866 Court. In the 1880 Census, Merritt and Elizabeth CHEEK were living in the home of Ruffin WHITAKER, husband of their daughter Sarah, in Chapel Hill Township.
