I have been plotting early land grants in Orange County and I keep seeing references to the metes and bounds of Strudwick's land. For example one land descriptio might read, ". . .to a corner post oak and then down Studwisks line to a red oak. . . . . ." I have checked all the Lord Granville grants, the NC land grants and deed books up through Book 7 (deeds up to ca. 1797). With the exception of the Granville grants, references to the Strudwick lands are scattered throughout the records as part of the metes and bounds of other inddividual's land descriptions in Orange County. This indicates Strudwick must have obtained possession of large tracts of land, but, unfortunately, none of the sources cited above provide any indication on how, when and where Strudwick got this land . Can any one knowledeable of Orange land records provide information on the locations and dispositions of Strudwick's lands?
