    3. When posting cemetery listings, please give the source of your information. If quoting from a book, give the author's name and publication date. If the author got the records from someone else, please indicate. Even on unpublished, privately transcribed records the name (and especially dates) can be important. Other sources can be church records and even minister's notes. If you are the one transcribing, it is very helpful to note the condition of the tombstone. Remember, cemetery records are not always accurate. The stone could have been placed, or replaced years after the actual burial. Of course if the stone is in a language other that English note should be made of that. I have at least one ancestor who was "buried" in more than one cemetery. In a published genealogy by a respected author and published in 1984 the ancestor was in one cemetery. However, the author (himself since deceased) gave no source for his information. I have searched what records I have for that cemetery and could not find this ancestor in them. A few years after this book was published another descendant found what he believes to be the original stone in another cemetery. He took a tracing of the stone which was in German. In this case the individual tromping the cemetery seems a more reliable source than the published author.
