Lorenzo Dow was a well-known and highly respected Methodist minister of the time. Other Methodist ministers who frequently had babies named after them were Lovick Pierce and Francis Asbury (the first US Methodist bishop). I have an Asbury Martin in my line (SC/AL, early to mid 1800s), and I thought with that first name he wouldn't be hard to trace. Come to find out, every good Methodist family (especially it seemed so in the Martins) named a son Asbury. As for Orange Co. families, I'm researching pre-Revolutionary era Hagoods (Haygoods), Partens, and Stewarts. Donna Sarchet Plainview, TX
