Hi: I don't have anything on that family but do know a William Gattis who lives today. He was born and raised in Bynum, NC, which is just south of Chapel Hill. He's now a Methodist preacher and lives in Chapel Hill, works at the UMC in downtown Chapel Hill. Maybe he's a descendant. He's listed in the phone book and I'm positive he wouldn't mind a phone call if you want to contact him. Linda
