Hello group, Can anyone tell me what newspapers existed in Rockingham Co. in the above years? The problem I am having is that my great great great grandfather, Claiborn Harris died in 1850 in McNairy Co. TN. Prior to his move there, he lived in Rockingham Co. NC in the Wolf Creek area. I believe him to be the son of John Harris and Lucy Stubblefield but cannot find a will in Rockingham Co. for John so my last resort is to look for newpapers listing Claiborn's death notice. The 1850 TN Mortality lists him as dying in October 1850, so I would be looking for newspapers from that month though about a year later (considering how slowly news traveled in those days). Claiborn Harris was married to Minerva Settle in Rockingham Co. NC February 10, 1839, Daughter of Benjamin Settle and Mary "Polly" Reid. She was 1st cousin to Gov. Reid if my memory is correct.
