    1. [NCORANGE] James Oldham, Early in Orange Co. - Additional Info Sought
    2. James Oldham received a warrant in 1763 in Orange Co., the part which later became Caswell Co. Can anyone add information to this brief info? "Oldham, James, Warrant, 1 Feb 1763, 700 acres on Piney Br., Haw R., includes Thos. Church's improvements. Surveyed 29 Apr 1763." "Oldham, James - survey - 29 Apr 1763; 180 acres on north side Haw R., joins Robt. Wells; Robt. Wells, JESSEY OLDHAM: SCC. 2 copies." (William D. Bennett, ORANGE COUNTY RECORDS, VOLUME I; GRANVILLE PROPRIETARY LAND OFFICE, ABSTRACTS OF LOOSE PAPERS [privately published, Raleigh, NC: 1987], p. 52 and p. 54) A 1783 grant (20 years later) to John Pepper (reportedly husband of Elizabeth Oldham, another child of Richard Oldham and Elizabeth Basye?) on both sides of Stoney Creek refers to lines of Tyree Harris, claim of Sanford, Richard Oldham, James Oldham. A 1787 grant to William Swift on Stony Cr. refers to lines of James Oldham, Moses Oldham, Nathaniel Read, and others. A second grant to Swift recorded at the same time, also on Stony Creek, refers to lines of John Pepper, Tyree Harris, Jere Williamson. Your guidance is appreciated. E.W.Wallace
