Carl, Thank you sooo much for this wonderful information. This does help a great deal. I do not have any information on Henry Simpson, sorry to say. You have just helped continue my husband's line further along. In my research, I will see what I can find regarding Henry Simpson. Here is a list of Samuel Simpson's children as copied from his Revolutionary War pension file. Samuel was said to have been a schoolmaster in Orange County, ca 1796, and his son Luke could read and write, based on the material in the file. 1) Benjamin Swain Simpson, b. July 9, 1769 2) Elizabeth Simpson, b. Sept. 1, 1771 3) John Simpson, b. Oct. 6, 1773 4) Charles Simpson, b. Aug. 7, 1776 5) Samuel Simpson, . April 5, 1779 6) Luke Simpson, b. Nov. 28, 1781 7) Rosanna Simpson, b. Nov. 29, 1783 8) Anna Simpson, b. March 23, 1787 9) Frederick Simpson, b. Feb. 7, 1790 Family lore has it that I am descended from Luke Simpson through his son Henry, but I would love to find documentation to support this...Luke may have had two families, with Henry born to him and wife Peggy Cook ca 1815. His children from the second family is listed in the 1850 census. Henry was said to have died in 1845. Any help with this would be appreciated. Carl, The below information is great. In regards to Benjamin Swain Simpson son of Samuel Simpson, do you know by chance whom Benjamin Swain Simpson married? In previous research, I have found Benjamin being married 3 times. First to Mary Wyatt in Chowan county on Jan 27, 1791, whom died abt 1813. Then to Margaret Garrison in Orange County on May 9, 1813 whom died about 1824. Then to Caty Dickey in Orange County on July 28, 1824. This previous research states Lemuel William Simpson's mother is Caty Dickey. But Lemeul was born in 1794 and Caty married Benjamin in 1824. (Or was this just the bond that was issued later after Lemuel was born.) I would then assume Lemuel's mother is Mary Wyatt. Which I find interesting as Lemeul William Simpson had a son named Wyatt which my husband is a direct descedant of. If you can give any light on this information I would greatly appreciate this. I did speak with another family member historian about the Simpson's and ask regarding your Henry/Luke connection. She was going to research for me and get back with any details of this nature. Thank you again.
