I found a deed dated 1810 where Abraham Whitaker sold land to Robert Rhodes in Orange Co. Can anyone tell me how to go about tracing the ownership of that land from that point on? I looked in the deed books but could never find where the land changed ownership from Robert Rhodes to anyone else. Someone suggested to check tax records. Would the land have an identification number or something that would identify this particular piece of land in the tax record? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
