Dear List: I believe the J. Taylor is John Taylor. His name appears on many wills, marriage records etc. in Orange County. If anyone has ready access to Orange County NC 1752-1952, there is an appendix which lists various county officials. I found a copy of this book at a FHC, and much to my surprise, found an ancestor listed as an official as well as TWO of my ggg grandfathers from different lines within the book!
