    1. [NCORANGE] Re: Longs of Colonial NC
    2. I have gleaned through two different folders of data about the Whitfield family at the VANCPGS (of which I am a member). While I found much data about my Whitfield ancestors (my g-g-grandmother was Francis Justin Whitfield), there was very little useful about the Longs. At VANCGPS, I also found two books on Long families, one of which held data which supported the early Long histories in The Person County Heritage. Unfortunately, the second book, a thesis titled "Long Families on the Rappahannock River Before 1800" stated that the connection made by the PCH article between Reuben Long's father Benjamin Long (b.1755) of Culpepper County, VA and his "father" Brumfield Long ( and therefore his supposed grandfather, Samuel Long) were incorrect, and that there is no conclusive evidence to support any claim to who Benjamin Long's ancestors really are. I had hoped to find someone with knowledge of the whereabouts of "Red Place" cemetery, and thus of Reuben Long and his ancestors.
