    1. [NCORANGE] Re: Longs (EDMISTON & GILSTON)
    2. Hello Alex and Person and Orange lists, Samuel EDMISTON bought (from Andrew M.Culloch, previously owned by William F. Thompson) land in Dec. 1809 on the south side of Tom's Creek. Jon TINEN and J (?) TAYLOR witnessed Samuel Edmiston and Jane GILSTON's marriage in Feb. 1805. I do not know the relationship of either of them to either Edmiston or Gilston. Some of their descendants were later living around Bushy Fork and Hurdle Mills in Person County Samuel and Jane EDMISTON's granddaughter (Elizabeth Artelia Edmiston 1843 -1913) married Legrand Jefferson Whitfield in 1867. Other NC surnames who married into the EDMISTON family were FINLEY, WALKER, THOMAS and O'BRIEN (that marriage happening in Missouri). Could you tell me something about the cemetery called Red Place? My ancestors were Scottish and mostly Presbyterian. Some were Baptists. Any other connections out there?? Thank you very much, Charla Edmiston Manica

    3. I'm willing to bet that this J. Taylor is the same one who appears on many Orange County marriage bonds of that period. Perhaps a clerk of court? Red Place? Do you mean Rougemount?
