Hey List, I need help on John McCauley. According to various census reports he was born in N.C. ca. 1804 and his father was born in Ireland, but nowhere does it tell his farhers name. He apparently migrated to Tenn about 1820 and married Sarah"Sally" Cheatham, daughter of Bartley Cheatham. He named his sons John , George, William & James Robert , all names found in the brothers Matthew and William McCauley families, (albeit common names), But his son, James Robert named his sons John W. George ,Maurice & Don Carlos( for his father- in-law) The names John, George, and Maurice(not a common name) are all used by Matthew McCauley I feel that this is my John McCauley's family either Matthew or brother William, but I have no proof Can anyone help?
