22 October 2001 I am trying to reference a Land Grant from 1778 to it's actual location in todays terms. It is located in present day Alamance County, on the waters of Haw Creek, a branch of Haw River. The metes & bounds mentions two lines which each follow a road, nearly parallel and probably 1500 to 1700 feet apart. Can someone give me a modern day reference to these two roads: "The Old Trading Road" "The Great Road" Are there modern day equivalents to these roads? Do they cross the Haw Creek or Haw River? Any help is appreciated. I know where Haw Creek is, but I need to know where these roads were in 1778 to be able to place the parcel correctly along the water course. Thanks.....
