Perhaps this is a clue to the Elijah Graves mentioned in the. Held Mail List #2 (always interesting reading, no matter where found) Granville Co., NC Deeds (abstracted) DB X-62 Ralph Graves deed of gift to his son, Elijah Graves. 1813. DB X-295 Elijah Graves and Andrew Stith divide personal property willed to their wives by Wm. Stafford of Orange Co., NC 7 Oct 1816. (Zae Hargett Gwynn, KINFOLKS OF GRANVILLE CO., NC [Rocky Mount, NC: Joseph W. Watson, 19??], pp. 196, 204.) A probable relative, Elijah Graves, died testate in Mecklenburg Co., VA ca 1799, but his will does not list a son named Elijah. Elijah's brother (both of them *orphans* of Henry Graves of Hanover Co.) was William Graves of Granville Co., NC. A deed or two in Louisa Co., VA identify both as orphans of Henry Graves. And that's my two cents' worth. E.W.Wallace
