Mark Murphy has done such a nice job of transcribing items from the Hillsborough RECORDER, that I thought I might try to add a little to the mix. A good many years ago I copied "dead letter" lists published in the RECORDER in the 1820s. From these lists, one can determine if an ancestor was in Orange Co and when they might have left, or at least weren't there to pick up their mail. A couple of these transcriptions appeared in issues of TRADING PATH, but I will repeat them here. I will post them as time permits. Throughtout the transcriptions, unreadable words or letters, and my comments, will be in brackets [ ]. Charlie Weaver, Winston-Salem, NC
