I thought I would re-post this again as the list seems to be active these days. I am still searching for information on my ggg-grandmother, Candis Queen Clark. According to census information Candis was born in NC about 1814. Candis married Robert Rhodes in 1837 in Orange Co., NC. Candis and Robert had children: Francis, William, Eliza, Teresa, Alexander, Unity, and John. Candis and family lived in Orange Co., according to the 1840, 1850 & 1860 censuses in the part that became part of Durham Co. Robert died about 1863. I cannot find Candis on the 1870 census but do find her in 1880 in Nash Co., NC living with daughter Unity, son John, and 1 grandchild, Dover (Unity's daughter). I cannot find anything else on her. I would like to find names of parents and siblings. Also, when and where she died and is buried. I would think she is probably buried w/ husband, Robert but do not know the location of his grave either. The name Candis Queen Clark seems rather unusual to me and would think it would catch someone's eye if they ran across it. If anyone has any information on a Candis Clark or Candis Rhodes I would appreciate hearing from you. I may be contacted directly at [email protected] Thanks, Chris
